Shotgun Crackers – “Lockdown PT. 3”

Shotgun Crackers Lockdown PT. 3

Last Friday Shotgun Crackers released “Lockdown PT. 3”, the third part of their EP trilogy, which will be followed next year with the album “Lockdown”, containing the earlier songs and five new ones. The first part was produced by the band together with Otto Wellton, on the second one they collaborated with Tomas Rusiak and for these two new songs, they went to Göteborg to work with Kristian Anttila. And it’s also Kristian who will help the band with the remaining five songs.

When I first listen to “Lockdown PT. 3” I wince a bit. The earlier party ambience with the energy pumping indie has been somewhat replaced with a bigger, heavier and darker sound with more electronica. I feel a little lost and find myself looking for that special rough Shotgun Crackers-vibe with a big heart, which they have stood for earlier.

At the same time I realise that I have been following the band for a long time now, from when they were just about to finish high school, five years ago, up until now, and neither I as a listener or they as a band want the music to stand still, untouched by what’s happening around them and inside them. The whole Lockdown series, which was started a little more than a year ago, feels all at once as some kind of maturation where they have explored new ground in each part.

The new songs slowly set in my mind, and it feels a little like getting to know them anew, or at least as looking at them from a different perspective. It’s a bigger scene now, and even if I can’t help missing the feeling of standing so close to the scene that I get drops of the singer Fredrik Nilsson’s sweat on me as the band performs, I get very curious of where this is going to land in what’s coming up next.

Since I strangely enough missed presenting the second part, “Lockdown PT. 2”, I have added one song from each part, in reverse order, here below, so you can listen and compare for yourself.

Shotgun Crackers – “Lockdown PT. 1”

September 23, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Shotgun Crackers - Lockdown PT.1 - CoverShotgun Crackers is back with new music. They released their debut album in Spring and now they follow this with the three-track EP, “Lockdown PT. 1”. It seems like they’re planning a series of EP:s in the time to come, instead of heading directly for a new full length album.

You can listen to the EP on Spotify and on their Bandcamp page. And you can find them on Facebook. Here’s the first song “Sinister”:

Shotgun Crackers – New album

February 15, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Shotgun CrackersShotgun Crackers is probably the closest we have ever come to having a house band here on Meadowmusic. They even released an EP on the blog a while ago. Now they are out with their album debut.

And the album gives us 8 tracks of their patented high-energetic, uplifting indie pop. If you’ve listened to them before you will probably recognize four of the songs from before, but now in new versions and with a new production.

Right now they are preparing a big party at Teatern in their hometown Norrtälje where they are playing on the 25th of February.

You can listen to the album on Spotify or on Shotgun Crackers’ Bandcamp page. You can meet the band on their site and on Facebook.

Shotgun Crackers – Visual Randomization

March 30, 2009 at 5:24 pm

Shotgun CrackersNow it’s time again! The energy shooting indie pop phantoms from Norrtälje, Shotgun Crackers, have an EP they would like to share with us, “Visual Randomization”. I know that many of you readers have become fascinated by their music, here on Meadowmusic, which makes it an easy decision to continue to serve you these musical titbits.

If it seems like you recognise some tracks from before, you’re right. “Welcome To Junior Thomas” is a new recording of their song “Blood, Tears and Dreams” and it’s the same with “Runner Runner” from the last EP “Khpptsch”, which they released  here on Meadowmusic. “Trevor” also is a new version of the same song from the last EP.

Listen to and enjoy “Visual Randomization” with Shotgun Crackers:

1. Runner Runner
2. Miss Conspiracy
3. Magic Man On Fire
4. Welcome to Junior Thomas
5. Trevor

Shotgun Crackers release EP on Meadowmusic

November 26, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Shotgun CrackersI wrote earlier about Shotgun Crackers here on Meadowmusic, and I have listened a lot to their songs. I get a real feeling of joy when I listen to them.
The band has just completed their new EP “Kpptsch” (is it maybe the sound of the snare and the cymbal?) and they release it here on Meadowmusic first, for everyone to download!

It’s just as playful as before but it sounds more “mature”. And I mean that in a positive sense, the guys in the band are incredibly musical and play well together. That was a fact also before, but now it feels like they really have found eachother and feel more secure with what they do.

In the songs you can listen to here, Shotgun Crackers are not afraid to try new directions and play with the music and the result is so nice and liberating.
The singer, Fredrik, is really good and in the only song in Swedish, he sounds startingly like Håkan Hellström!

Congratulations for being one of the first who can download the new EP from Shotgun Crackers!
