Bring the Mourning On brings us to the US and to the country music areas where Neil Young spent a lot of time in during the seventies. Dark, alternative country with a hint of rock, the band says about their music, which I think is a good description.
The sound feels classic and Henning Pettersson show the right suffering in his voice; listen especially to the song “Let the Battle Begin” here below, a song that has a lot of what you could ask from the genre.

Apparently Kitchen Sink Movement is a drama movement that started in the fifties, with a focus on the urban working class’ worries and problems. Sounds heavy. I don’t know if the band Kitchen Sink Movement derived their name directly from this, but their music doesn’t sound too heavy at all.
On the two-track single, “Dead Man Walking”, they released in the autumn they play an energic rock with a lot of ska vibes. A type of music that sounds like it’s made for energizing a live audience.

Here we have a band that plays indierock/alternative if they were about to describe their style themselves. But I have do disagree and say that it is more like pop/punk. But that’s what’s tough about music, to categorize it.
Roshambo was founded 2009 in Karlskrona and have already released an EP and right now they are recording new material. The EP starts off with a short acapella track and the next song is a really nice punk song!, also the best track on the EP, then there follow 3 other songs, but they are more “poppy”. Nothing that get stuck in my head directly, but they grow as I listen to them.
Roshambo wanted us to push a bit for their poppier songs but my advice to you is to log on to Spotify and look up their EP and listen to PR Swine. It rocks!

Here we have a band from Gothenburg who plan to go big when the spring arrives with releasing a new single, but wanted us here at MeadowMusic to have a look on what they had done so far. Besides having an incredibly hard-to-spell name, they sound a little bit in my ears that they originate from the 70s. At it’s best the music can be desribed as pop with an inch of rock in it. The production sounds pretty lame, with the drums sounding flat. Maybe it’s just me, who also is a musician and always tries to get bombastic sounding drums.
The material sounds happy and easy-going with nice melodies (especially thinking about “When The Weeks Start Talking”) which I think has the highest hit potential. It’s definitely worth a listen if you’re into pop and just wants to have something playing in the background when you’re doing something else at home.
My wishes for their new release is that they will polish their sound a bit.

Well, we’re back now after a short christmas break and we have loads of great music with Swedish artists to present. First up is Sleeping Dervish, a band that released the EP “The Water Scared” last year.
Well produced, somewhere between the post grungy and the grand pop, could be a description. They serve us 6 songs on the EP, and bring it all together really nice in songs like “Son of a Trader” and “The Water Scared”, songs that I won’t hesitate to play some more.
