One Two Die For was formed in the Autumn in 2010 and consists of members from metal band Centicore and ex pop/rock band Becky Sharp. Recently they released the album “First Blood” which you can listen to on Spotify.
It feels like American-influenced pop/rock for the arenas, with indie vibes and some ingredients from Queen. And it’s Queen they’ve used as a model when it comes to creating grand choruses and choirs, which you can hear clearly in “You Kicked My Heart In the Ass” here below.
I can sense that it gets a little too much sometimes, but overall the album feels more than ok for the genre, with some heights that stand out.
The band John Duva was just about to release their new EP “Vinter” (“Winter”) when they a couple of weeks ago signed with the label Transsubstans with the aim to release a full length album in the Autumn instead. So right now, we will have to satisfy ourselves with a taste of that.
It’s garage rock and some punk, like a messier The Hives, I hear on these songs. From the EP there still remain two songs on their Soundcloud page you can listen to. There’s also an earlier album from 2009 available on Spotify.

Bulldog Mack was formed a year ago and this spring they released their first EP, “Stack’em Up”. Their inspiration comes from classic rock’n’roll from the sixties and the seventies, first of all from The Who and Kiss, and when I listen to the songs I hear a lot of the last-mentioned in the music.
Loads of classic rock riffs are delivered together with a large dose of passion and nice melody hooks. Not much innovation, just plain irresistable rock’n’roll without diversions. I apologize for a rather slow week of blogging. I hope to put things in order again with a large dose of rock, coming from Killerball and their new EP “St. Epone”.
Killerball was formed already in 2003 when the members met on a high school trip. They then let the band develop slowly to find their own way and style. In 2009 they started writing songs for the album “St. Epone” with a “doesn’t-matter-if-it-sounds-new-or-old”-attitude and they entered their own studio to record the songs.
“St. Epone” was released in May and serves some great rock, full of energy. They mix styles but still manage to maintain their own character throughout the album; from messy garage rock’n’roll and hard rock to vibes of alternative rock and some post grunge. Listen for yourself here below.
While Giants Sleep started out a year ago and this summer they released their self-titled debut EP. They have their base in Eslöv, Sweden, but the five members have also roots in Norway, Iceland, Finland and Chile.
Musically I find the roots, though, on the other side of The Atlantic Ocean; in post rock, progressive rock and indie rock. It’s a collection of five well built songs where they paint a rather dark ambience together with the fateful lyrics. A very interesting debut that promises a lot for the future.
