The band Mr. Falcon, hailing from Malmö, was formed in 2011 by singer and guitarist Rasmus Ehrnborn, bass player Andreas Grufstedt and drummer Jonas Karlström. The band name is taken from a line in a censored version of the movie Die Hard, where “Yippee-ki-yay motherfucker” turned into “Yippee-ki-yay Mr. Falcon”.

Vikunja have taken their band name from a small camelid animal (vicuña) that lives high up in the Andes. With their grand sound they clearly aim for the big arenas, which they already have tried as the opening act on Roxette’s arena tour through Sweden last year. Coldplay comes to mind when I listen, especially in the ballad “Strangers”, and there is no doubt that they have a sense for efficient, simple, sing-along-inspiring choruses, which you can hear below.

Last year I wrote about Frida Selander’s excellent debut album “Try Again Baby”. Now she’s back with her great rock voice in the new single “Mountains Define You”. She’s recently toured the inland of the north of Sweden and as a bonus we get a video from this journey with the song “Geography”.
