The Litsos – “Guidance”

The Litsos have released their second song in their single trilogy. It’s called “Guidance”, and is also a child of the eighties’ new wave era, and I’d say that Echo and the Bunnymen is not far away from this sound.

Prince of Assyria – “Bring Along Joy”

Ninos Dankha was born in Iraque, but came to Sweden with his parents when he was only one years old and then grew up in Linköping. As an artist he calls himself Prince of Assyria and is on his way of releasing his second album “Changing Places”, after a five year long break. The song “Bring Along Joy” is a first taste of the album, a melancholic singer/songwriter-track which reminds me a bit of Junip in the ambience. “Annika” is another song of his, which was released last year, and it’s so beautiful that I just had to add that one too.

Center of Attention – “Dancing In the Rain”

Center of Attention is a newly formed band from Stockholm. They write that they have worked behind other artists before, like Veronica Maggio and Erik Saade, and performed in musicals like “Kristina from Duvemåla” and “Rock of Ages”. Their own musical influences seem to come from other directions, though, to judge from their debut single “Dancing In the Rain”. Scissor Sisters, The Killers and disco influences from the eighties come to mind when I listen to this catchy rock/pop track.

Peacock Farm – New EP

The psychadelia-inspired Peacock Farm, whom I wrote about last month, released the EP they announced before. And the four songs on the EP doesn’t dissappoint me at all, considering the expectations I had after last month’s “Monogram (Plum Run)“. A great EP with music I’d like to hear more of.

Danmarck – “don’t mean in don’t mean out”

And finally Danmarck with a video follow-up to the last one “neat neat neat“. Rock. High volume is recommended.

Blackstrap

Peacock Farm – “Monogram (Plum Run)”

Peacock Farm is a band from Stockholm which shares members with Alexandria and is soon releasing a new vinyl EP. “Monogram (Plum Run)” is the name of the first track, a track that reminds me of Pink Floyd and early Genesis and overall a sound that breathes of the dynamic seventies. Great music.

The Grand Minnows – “Televised”

After the EP debut last month The Grand Minnows are back with a new single, “Televised”. I do recognise them, but they sound a bit different now, more dirty, more indie rock and feels even sharper than before.

Blackstrap – “Monument”

Blackstrap are releasing their third song, “Monument”, from their upcoming album; a Nine Inch Nails-influenced dense shoegaze, which you can also hear on the earlier song “Monoheart” here below. I couldn’t help but adding the psychadelic “Make Sense Make Change (Feat. Victoria Bergsman)” from last year too.

Rebstar – “My Way”

Here’s a new hip hop single from Rebstar, different from what I’ve heard before from him, minimalistic in comparison, 8bits-synth sounding and rock hard.

Fantastic – “Darkness” – video

I can’t help thinking about Ozzy Osbourne from the early seventies when I look at the duo Fantastic’s video “Darkness”, with it’s psychadelic ambience, lit candles and dark eyes, singing about inner demons. The music is not that much Black Sabbath, though, but rather psychadelic kraut, like they write themselves. Great song.

AstroMike Gordon – “Youthful Spite/I´m An Astronaut”

AstroMike Gordon is an insteresting constellation from Malmö, that yesterday released the two track single “Youthful Spite/I´m An Astronaut”. They have created quite a special film nostalgic ambience and a sound with crooner vibes from the front man Cristoffer Csanady.

Wayflower – “Over You”

Punky, glammy rock’n’roll or Big Star-inspired power pop. Somewhere in those areas is where I find the band Wayflower, hailing from Stockholm, who are now releasing the single “Over You”. Last month they also released the song “Holding On”, and both songs are taken from the band’s upcoming debut album”Heroes”, which, after this, feels quite necessary to dig into when it comes out.

Little Children – “By Your Side”

Linus Lutti and his project “Little Children” is releasing a new single from the upcoming album “Walk Within”. This Beck-scenting song is called “By Your Side”, a song where he’s been working with the multiinstrumentalist Andreas Söderström.

Solander

Boufa Boufa – “Until Tomorrow”

The band Boufa Boufa from Hudiksvall are back with a new single, “Until Tomorrow”. A bit different than the last one and feels more like brit pop and some of the sixties this time. Listen here:

Solander – “The Woods Are Gone”

“The Woods Are Gone” is the name of the second single from Solander’s new album “Monochromatic Memories”. I haven’t had the time to listen to the whole record yet, but the beautiful melancholy in this song makes me want to taste some more.

No Coda – “No Ransom”

No Coda, hailing from Sandviken, have released another single, “No Ransom”, a song well up to par with the earlier songs. Good energy in this shoegaze-vibing indie rock. With a hint of punk as well.

The Good Morning Spider

Viktor Rinneby and his The Good Morning Spider are on their way to release the debut album “Outergalactic”, to be released on the 29th of March. At the start of this year a few videos have been released to give us a taste of what’s coming up. Like before, it’s feels somewhat psychadelic in an intriguing and rather unpredictable rock, sung both in Swedish and English, to judge from these songs. Here are two of them:

The Italian String Machine

Italian String Machine – “New Nostalgia” – EP

The duo Italian String Machine, Victor Hvidfeldt and Joel Lindström, are releasing their  debut EP “New Nostalgia” on Monday. “Nostalgic futurism and dance to a Vangelis soundtrack” they write about the four songs on the EP. And I can certainly hear the eighties nostalgia with quite a dose of synth pop from that decade, while some other touches suggest that they have the other foot in the electro pop soil of today. I presented one of the songs, the excellent “Neuromancer”, last time I wrote about them, but the other songs are just as good. Here are two of them:

Daniel & Daniel – “The Code of Colour” – EP

Daniel Lindquist and Daniel Forsberg form the duo Daniel & Daniel and have recently released their fourth EP, “The Code of Colour”, recorded in a barn in the deep forests of Småland, close to Markaryd. They have created their own experimental rock brew where psychadelia is an obvious ingredient, but also with a taste of progressive and alternative rock. Here are two of the tracks:

Reveries – “Tip of Your Tongue”

Reveries come from Linköping and have released this single, “Tip of Your Tongue”, a large-sounding pop track with post rock tendencies. A new single is on it’s way soon.

Adna – “Night”

Adna, whom I wrote about in the end of last year, released her debut album “Night” just a little while ago. Here’s the title track from the album, filled to the brim with beautiful melancholy.

Franskild – “Clockworks”

Franskild is a house duo that consist of Love Ojensa and Tim Söderström. Their first release this year is this suggestive, melancholic electro pop song “Clockworks”, which appeals, at least to me, a lot more than the high octane house music popular today.
