Colleagues got quite some attention in the Autumn from their excellent debut single “Parent’s House”. They haven’t released any new songs officially yet, but they sent this video link to Australian Bean Pole Productions‘ “Sea Creatures”, which uses the track “Visits” from Colleagues as the theme song, which makes a beautiful music video with dreamy indie pop.
A little while ago Family Values released their third single, “Precis som jag” (“Just Like Me”), with a somewhat different ambience than in the last single, in this dreamy electro pop. The lyrics was written by the author Alexander Kočí and the video here below consists of clips from Michelangelo Antonioni’s “Red Desert”.
Kickback Circus call themselves “Sweden’s smallest arena rock band”, and on their latest EP “Sounds Like a Plant” they show us what they mean by that. The first song “Flashlight Memories” has a synth pop touch with melodic loops á la Vince Clarke, but that first of all makes me think of Jon & Vangelis. The following two songs move the synths to the background and could be described as arena pop ballads, which in their romantic melancholy probably would have worked great as finishing songs at the dance night during the eighties as well as they work today. Not bad at all.
