Linn Öberg

Here’s an interesting singer/songwriter from Stockholm. Linn Öberg is her name, and she has earlier released the debut EP “Parades” and now during Spring a video for the single “Jump”, which you can watch here below. Americana-inspired pop performed with Linn’s special voice, acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies and toms.

Social Ambitions – “Hunger”

Social Ambitions

The electronica duo Social Ambitions’ new album “Hunger” feels almost like an excursion through the synth pop of the eighties and also like a mix of light and darkness. They also vary by singing in both Swedish and English on the album which changes the experience from song to song. They start out with happy Vince Clarke-sounding figures and then glide over to a darker almost Depeche Mode-vibing sound and they also dive into German-inspired hard electronica, while I get breaths of Adolphson & Falk in a track like “Skrämselhicka”. Here’s a couple of tracks from the album.

Melodies In Mono

Melodies In Mono

Melodies In Mono is exactly what it sounds like: a project with music recorded in mono. Behind the project we find Max Ekholm who crafts fine melodies in a classic synth pop costume. Listen here below to one of the latest singles, “Make Things Right”.

Last Lynx – “Ocean Reels EP”

Last Lynx

Last Lynx, hailing from Stockholm, set fire on parts of the music blogosphere in the beginning of this year with their laidback, soul funk-pop single “Killing Switch”. They followed up on this during Spring with the excellent, 8 track long, EP “Ocean Reels”; full of contagious indie pop, ornamented with crispy electronica, nice grooves and smooth melodies.

Behind the artist name Noras Falcon we find Elin Rosenberg, a 26 year old singer/songwriter, who recently released her debut EP, the four songs strong “The Spark”. And it is a strong EP; full of beautiful, airy pop with strong melodies, and which sometimes draws in some Americana/country-influences. And she has quite an interesting voice too, maybe somewhere between Kate Bush and Lycke Li, if you drew a curved line between these two. Listen to two of the songs here below.
