Raindear, aka Rebecca Bergcrantz, has released a couple of more singles since I last wrote about her. The latest one is called “Prison Bed” and was released last month. She continues to grow her sensual blend of western electropop and asian influences, which becomes something quite unique and special. For this song she mentions Japanese traditions as an inspiration, which I can recognize, and I also get the sensation of Indian melodies and rhythms, both in this song and the previous one, “Museum”. Behind the artist name FYR we find the songwriter and producer Martin Grådal, hailing from Göteborg. Earlier this week he released his debut single “Submissia” together with the singer Linnea Sundemo. It’s a powerful and beautiful creation, which for me paints grand, undulating and dark landscapes where Linneas sweet, special voice flows like a crystal clear stream in the middle of the image.

He writes that the song is exploring the balance between control and ultimate surrender. The inspiration came from an article in ESPN Magazine, a portrait of the freediver Herbert Nitsch and how he defies the limits of the human body.

Earlier in the Autumn Jon Rinneby, as promised, released a new album under the name Låtsaspoeten, “Nattmusik för människor”. Just like on Låtsaspoeten’s debut from the beginning of this year it’s about folk pop in Swedish, often with the acoustic guitar as a base. Even if the albums share many characteristics it feels overall like he’s expanding the musical horizon’s of Låtsaspoeten’s musical landscape. The clever, sing-along-inviting songs are there, but the intimate, tender moments are given more space and the influence from Americana and dreamy folk indie is more obvious than before. As usual his choruses get stuck in my head in some curious way, and when I’m having lunch I hear “Barnasinnets glöd” and “Hoppet kan va hopplöst” on repeat. I am more affected, though, by songs like “Linda” and “Du ser”, where the last one may be the most delicate, naked and vulnerable I’ve heard from him.
If you happen to be in Malmö tonight you can watch him play some songs together with Anna Jadéus (who also has contributed with vocals on the album) at Beer Ditch at 7 pm.

The trio Navet has been quiet for two years, at least when it comes to new recordings. Now they are back, though, with the new single “Fever Dreams”. And they say hello again with a smile and an uplifting electropop with distinct pattering synth lines and sweet pop melodies. Hi, and good to hear from you again.

Weibenfalk is a project led by Thomas Weibenfalk. In the Autumn he released the new album  “Sekunder”, which I’ve been listening to today. He moves in the domain of folk-inspired singer/songwriter-rock, an area where we often see artists like Springsteen, Winnerbäck and Lundell. And as an old Lundell-fan I soon find some paralells to “Den Vassa Eggen”, in the 80’s-sounding room, in the mood and in the grand choruses. With that said, the sound doesn’t really feel retro, it’s rather firmly set in our current decade, where I think Thomas has carved out his own personal space in the genre. It’s a very even album which alternates between the reflective, the soul-searching and the outbound, with comments about the world around us, and between light and darkness, in a music which simmers of lust for life.
The album was produced by Andreas Dahlbäck, who also produced Vindkraft, whom I wrote about yesterday, and well, a long row of other artists alsom, like Lundell, Anna Ternheim, Ola Salo among others. Here below are some of my favourites from “Sekunder”.
