Hundhuvet is an interesting band from Malmö which plays a nice, messy, Skåne-Swedish-mellow indie pop with vocals in skånska (Swedish dialect). In April they recorded the song “Drömmarna slår alltid fel”, a great song which maybe points out a new direction for the band?

It’s a cleaner production and a song with a nice drive, but with same mellowness as before. They speak about heavy subjects but in the hands of Hundhuvet they become, not only manageable, but also (which is an interesting part about music) enjoyable.

Drömmarna slår alltid fel

The duo Pallers tell us that they have finished the recordings of their new album “The Sea of Memoirs”, which will be released later this year. They let us get a glimpse of what’s coming up with the new single, “Come Rain, Come Sunshine”, an electropop song that starts out naked and builds up nicely to a grande finale.

Marcus Gamme, hailing from Kalmar, released his second EP in April, “Come Away”. There he presents four songs of feelgood music, pop with a lot of back beats, acoustic guitars and summer vibes.

Lovisa Lindström is a singer/songwriter who released her debut EP “Something’s Been Missing” some months ago. She says her biggest inspiration has been Annika Norlin from Säkert, Hello Saferide. You could maybe notice this if you dig deep, but I think that she shows her very own voice in these recordings.

The arrangements are beautiful, yet not unique, but in combination with really nice melodies and quite characteristic vocals; clear, with a bit of frailty and some folk vibes; she manages to stand out and cut through walls.

Not Going Back

Today, This Year’s Model release their new album “We Walk Like Ghosts”, their second full length album since the start in 2005.

You could call it indie pop, but not of the slick, light-hearted kind, rather with a more basic, close sound, sometimes reminding of the Cure, sometimes with some vibes from The Go Betweens, but also with a whole lot more in the mix. Great melodies, an interesting voice from Niklas Gustafsson and an album that grows in strength each time I listen.
