Hyper Heart is a new band with members from bands like Mixtapes & Cellmates, Raketen! et. al. They’ve just released their debut single “Eris”, electro pop with fat techno sounds and a nice pop melody. These sounds aren’t normally my favourite sounds but here they use them in a way that makes it feel different and surprisingly fresh.

Vikunja have taken their band name from a small camelid animal (vicuña) that lives high up in the Andes. With their grand sound they clearly aim for the big arenas, which they already have tried as the opening act on Roxette’s arena tour through Sweden last year. Coldplay comes to mind when I listen, especially in the ballad “Strangers”, and there is no doubt that they have a sense for efficient, simple, sing-along-inspiring choruses, which you can hear below.

A year ago I wrote about Tim Pirfält’s solo project Eremitapa. Now he’s back in the band project Tifuos where he sings and writes songs. The band released the album “Heartbreak and Other Things” during Spring, an album that runs from indie-pop to Americana, inspired by first of all Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes and Ryan Adams in a pleasant mix.
Looking at Tim we meet a more self-assured singer with more attitude than the last time, and he also in a way confirms my feeling from before that he will go on and make great music in the time to come. They say that they have tried to catch as much spontaneity as possibly by recording most of the tracks live in the studio, which is quite obvious. The songs sprawls in different directions and breathes creativity. This sprawling is perfectly fine by me, but the variations in song volumes and sound makes it hard to enjoy the album as a whole. There are several pearl for songs, though, that you can listen to, like the one here below, “Greetings From the Poet”.

Lorentzo Jönsson is a young singer/songwriter who released his debut EP during spring, “For the Night”. It’s naked, melancholic and the album cover describes the music well, where he stands there half-naked, alone below the city light only accompanied by a keyboard. Lorentz both have the courage and the expression to fill out this room with his voice and it feels like the beginning of a story that I’d like to find out more about-

A little more than a month ago Emerald Park released the album “Absolute Zero”, the third one since they started in 2002. It’s been four years since the last time and one would expect some changes in the music. And there is, quite a few, which they signalled with their single “Reality Bites” last year.
It’s more naked, happier, more tounge-in-cheek, more romantic and nostalgic and the entire production feels more spontaneous. They show their love for good pop melodies, which isn’t anything new to them, but it feels, well, more relaxed. I notice the americana influences in some songs and more than once I’m reminded of Magnetic Fields and also Jens Lekman.
