Last year I wrote aboutNiels Nielsen and the album he released then. When he returns here now with the fresh EP “Shadow Twin” in his backpack, I’m met by something quite different. We meet a band now instead, with the tree members Niels Nielsen, Henric Bellinger and Anders Ristenstrand, and also, the less available indie has been replaced by a direct melodic electro pop with dance ambitions. First with the somewhat dark disco variant “Shadow Twin” culminating in techno synths and then the ballad with vibes from the eighties “I’m Not Here”. On the EP there are also three remixes of the songs.
Here’s another song from MANKKU [mancko]’s dogma sessions in Oslo earlier this year, which he just uploaded:
“The most simple take of the whole session. Each one with a guitar, Geir and Roland respectively, and I contribute with a heart open wide. Play it loud.” (transl. from Swedish)
If you’re in Stockholm on October 31st you can see him live on the acoustic club Bara Unplugged.
Here’s a debut single from Cave Cat, a band that was formed when two guys met in a bar: “The idea of starting a band together formed in a common love for the British guitar pop from the 80’s and 90’s. Soon two became four and the band CAVE CAT was formed.” And that’s how it feels: indie with The Smiths and postpunk vibes. Listen to the title track here below.
Here’s Lissi Dancefloor Disaster’s new single and video “Kill the Winner”, where they again show their ability to create playful, entertaining and catchy electro pop in their own way.
Christoffer Englund decided to leave the band where he had been playing during seven years and build something completely on his own. After a couple of years working on the new project, this Autumn he pushed the start button for his solo adventure The Ginger. Two songs are out where he shows a melancholic pop in the borderland to rock, nicely coloured by electronica. Beautiful melodies with a certain feeling of drama and some eighties vibes. There seems to be more good songs in his storage, judging from the live video you can watch here below, which we probably will meet soon in recorded versions.
