Pharoes – “Circle of Seasons”

Today I’m going to use the word impressive again, this time about the debut album “Circle of Seasons” from the band Pharoes, hailing from Malmö. They serve a grand dynamic alternative rock and say they are influenced by bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, Deftones and Soundgarden. I don’t think that they sound exactly like any of these bands, but they do have the genre mix and the dynamic changes in the songs in common.
The band name is a deliberate misspelling of the word Pharaoh’s, which came about when singer and guitarist Ebbe Eriksson was browsing through Urban Dictionary. Someone had added the misspelled “Pharoes curse” which stuck with Ebbe. They got rid of the word curse pretty fast and voila, they had a unique band name.
You can find Pharoes on their site and on Facebook. Listen to the album on Spotify and other digital services.
