Today the band Brine, hailing from Göteborg, are releasing the video to the song “They…”, which is the second single from their album “The Night Before It Happened”. The album was released in December and is their third LP. It’s a laidback, genial indie, varying between song tracks and instrumental tracks (like in “They…”), and with a basic guitar sound coloured by a cello. The video below is created by Hilda Hallén, who takes us seal scouting. I have also added the song “Next Time West Coast”, which was the first single from the album.
In the Autumn Sibirien, or David Björk, released the excellent EP “När jorden blev rund“. This week he presented the follow-up in the shape of the new single “Warszawa/Amsterdam”. The song is about a friend of David’s, who passed away last year. I can hear and feel that it gets more personal in an ambience that shifts between the tensed, frustrated and the melancholic, retrospective in the absence of someone who was once close. The video was directed by Dennis Tkacuk.
It’s been a while since I heard from the indie band I Don’t Speak French. On Saturday they released a new single, though, “Dawn of the New Age”, a quite infectious song where they blend funky vibes and indie pop in their own way.
The duo Friska Viljor, Daniel Johansson and Joakim Sveningsson, are back and underway with their sixth album, to be released in May. They are tempting us here with the new single “In My Sofa I’m Safe”. The song is about parenthood and that aspect about leaving the old life behind. There’s undoubtely some energy left for the duo, because here they accelerate and cross the speed-limits, and you can sense frustration just as well as a pure joy of playing. The chorus is a virtual folk party explosion where we all dance until we fall over out of exhaustion. Well, you have to grab the opportunity while you can. It’s your turn to change the diapers soon.
The Gothenburg duo Pale Honey, Tuva Lodmark and Nelly Daltrey, are releasing the single “Youth” on the 2nd of March. Armed with only drums, electric guitars and Tuva’s cool vocals they have created a track that deserves it’s name; a calm verse, with a lo-fi synth figure as the only company to the vocals, explodes in garage rock riffs, but still maintaining the same laidback attitude. Their debut album “Youth” will be released in the 4th of May.
