Emerald Park – “GO!GO!GO!”

Emerald Park

I thought I’d beat the drum for an album released in June today, i.e. Emerald Park’s latest creation “GO!GO!GO!”. Like they announced beforehand it is an album where they made plenty of more space for electronica. The result feels like a vitamin injection to the band’s music, a melting pot of influences where retro sounding analogue synths coexist with disted indie guitars, carrying everlasting, high class pop melodies. It is probably the most varied album I’ve heard from the band, and the influence from two different great producers, Ola Frick of Moonbabies and Carl Granberg, can be sensed in the songs. It’s one of the best pop albums I’ve heard this year, and the only problem I have with it is that it’s way too short.

Emerald Park – “Wolf”

Wolf

Today Emerald Park are releasing another song from their upcoming album “GO!GO!GO!”(release 23rd of June). This dreamily pleasant track is called “Wolf” and they continue here with their idea of combining indie with electropop parts. They write themselves that it was an attempt to mix the sound from Ultravox with Primal Scream. The video below was recorded by the Spanish film maker Javier Sobremazas during a roadtrip from Spain to Mongolia.

Emerald Park – “Liberteens”

Emerald Park

Emerald Park are preparing the release of the new album “Go! Go! Go!”, which is going to be released on the 23rd of June. The first taste for us is the song “Liberteens”, a song that the band wrote after they had listened to Imogen Heap and thought about how they could incorporate Autotune in their music. The result came out as a duet where an autotuned Martina Johansson is singing a cool, bright and airy electropop verse, after which Tobias Borelius comes rumbling in with rough indie pop and electric guitars where they seem to bend the tones a bit more to mark the contrasts. Love it.

Emerald Park – “Things”

October 16, 2013 at 12:38 pm

Emerald Park

In Spring Emerald Park released the EP “Black Box“, which I wrote about then. What I didn’t mention was that they, before that, had released another EP, “Things”; an eminent collection of pop songs, five in total, a little like a best-of-Emerald-Park-right-now. So I’ll take the opportunity to play a couple of the songs now instead, from this EP which is free to download.

Below you’ll also find the music video to the song “Fugue State” (from “Black Box”), which was released earlier this autumn. The video is produced by Spanish Double Cheese, but recorded in London.

Emerald Park

Emerald Park, hailing from Malmö, released the new EP “Black Box” last month. They continue on their path with their own brew of Magnetic Fields, Americana and indiepop, which we last heard on their album “Absolute Zero” last year. Listen here below to the dreamy, beautiful title track “Black Box”.
