Eddie Wheeler – “Finns det hopp” – video

Eddie Wheeler

Eddie Wheeler wrote the song “Finns det hopp” (“Is there hope”) when he got tired of all the people that were witch hunting beggars and other people that have a hard time in our society. It’s a cry for humanity and empathy, a wonderful naked song production where Eddie’s pleading vocals makes its way through pulsating percussion and dripping synth melodies which sound like tears raining on the concrete. A song that in a way answers its own question by existing.

I take the opportunity also to add another song from Eddie, “Den mask du bär”, released in the Autumn, and one of the strongest songs he has released this far, together with today’s headliner.

ismael – “Atlas”

The trio ismael released the album “Atlas” in the Autumn, an album which I didn’t have the time to write about then. Fortunately they are now releasing the title track as a single, so that they get some deserved attention here. And I like it; the band has developed their sound quite a bit since I first heard them. They have found their own poetic and melancholic space, somewhere in the vicinity of Thåström, and it feels both nostalgic and fresh. An extra plus also for the hard working bass on this track.

David Josephson – “Moln på vift”

Today David Josephson release another single from his upcoming album “Drömmaskinen”, this time with sailor choirs and vibes of Pengabrorsan and Eldkvarn.

Eddie Wheeler – “Kom in i mig”

I’ve written before about the musical elemental force from Göteborg, Eddie Wheeler, but it’s acually with this new song that he makes his solo debut, at least officially. “Kom in i mig” is the name of the song, and it sounds different from what I’ve heard from him earlier with it’s pumping, catchy electropop, and he shows that he can master this genre too.

Josefin Glenmark – “Du din jävel” – video

Here’s a new single with Josefin Glenmark, “Du din jävel”, her first single in Swedish from what I understand. Bittersweet pop with a jazzy touch with a nostalgic trace which makes the song stand out. This is the first song we hear from her next album, scheduled for release next year.

Eddie WheelerEddie Wheeler is and has been a quite busy man. He has toured extensively, not only in Sweden, but also in England, Australia and in the US. Many recognise him from the Swedish TV show Raggadish, which followed him on an international tour in 2006. Besides the concerts Eddie is also a frequent speaker in schools, conferences and other events.

Sofar he has released a couple of EP:s and is just about to release another one, which will be celebrated with a concert at Pustervik the 20th of November. The EP is a taste of the coming full length album, to be released in spring.

The 2nd of December is the opening night for the Eddie Wheeler Christmas show at Kontiki in Göteborg, Sweden. A live club where independent artists will perform every Tuesday during three weeks in December. Eddie Wheeler himself in the company of Jacques Labouchere will be the first acts.

Here you can get to know Eddie Wheeler’s music in a couple of tracks. I think acoustic rock is a good description of his music. And it is a naked form of rock, with a mellow ambience, gripping and in some kind of way honest. Listen for yourself:
