Söder – “En sorgsen sång som gör mig glad”

Söder

Söder has played earlier with bands like Inferno, Åka Bil, Tuk Tuk Rally among others. Now he’s in the middle of his solo debut with a single that was recently released, “Vad ska du bli?”, and an album, “Exorcism”, scheduled for launch later this Autumn.

The single “Vad ska du bli?” has it’s name from the first track, which is a cover of Ebba Grön’s song. He performs a new, more quiet and excellent version of the song, which he says is one of his favourite songs throughout the years.

Since I normally avoid publishing covers here in the blog, I chose to publish the second one instead, “En sorgsen sång som gör mig glad” (“A sad song that makes me happy”); a song that I think is just as interesting. It’s an exquisite combination with Söder’s calm voice, the Swedish sadness and a “sorry-that-I-kicked-in-the-speaker-membrane”-guitar, where the guitar rips the sweet melancholy in the song to pieces.  And it makes me happy.

Uppgång & Fall

Uppgång & Fall

The trio Uppgång & Fall (“Rise and Fall”) have taken their band name from the song with the same name by Ebba Grön, which you may have guessed. The punk rock they play has less in common with exactly that Ebba album, and more in common with the early Ebba Grön and the original Swedish garage punk.

To me they are a little like punk rock in a nutshell: Just pick up the instruments and go, we’re going to change this bloody world, be just who you wanna be and noone can miss the message when the bass player and singer Ella’s voice cracks in frustration and anger over the establishment.

In the beginning of the year they released their first EP which you can listen to on their Bandcamp page, and they plan to record an album in Summer. You can also find them on Facebook.

Stefan Lundblad & Hyrda Knektar

This is three chord rock, this is nostalgia, this is punk rock and this is truly great! The memories from my childhood room with the Swedish punk rock band Ebba Grön on loudest volume possible, charges towards me at high speed. However, this is not Ebba Grön with Thåström at the mic but Ebba with Fjodor screaming “profit” on the recording from an apartment from “Ebba the movie”!

That’s what it feels like to listen to Stefan Lundblad & Hyrda Knektar! I just enjoy it Sooo much and I’m Sooo happy that there are still artists out there creating music like this!

I’ll post three songs for download and listening. I’m afraid that the last creation “För nära kanten” (“Too close to the edge”) is of poor quality, but I’ll include it anyway… anyone who’s heard the bootleg “Where were you at -77” of the Sex Pistols will consider the song high quality stuff ;-)

Now. Turn up the volume and rock out!!!
