Drivvedsfolket, whom I wrote about last Spring, have released the new single “Födelsedag” (“Birthday”) with two tracks where they blend contagious guitar figures, dance rhythms and garage distorted riffs. They feel Bob Hund-odd in their own special way.

Drivvedsfolket, hailing from Norrköping, write that they have developed their sound inspired by artists like Arctic Monkeys, Pugh Rogefeldt, The Black Keys, Florence Valentin, The Kinks et. al. They show this on their latest EP “Vilket Gäng! (“What a gang!”), which you can taste a song from here below. They sing in Swedish and sure, I do get associations from Pugh Rogefeldt as I listen, but also from Bob Hund, Arctic Monkeys and sixties’ rock, which all in all make a special mix.
The band started out in 2009 and sang originally in English. Then they called themselves Driftwood People, suggesting that they were carefree people, living for the day. That was actually an irony, as they claim to be a bunch of nervous and long-winded individuals.
When they later on started using Swedish in their songs, they simply translated the band name directly, creating a new Swedish word. So now you know what drivvedsfolk means in Swedish. Maybe.
