Dotter

Dotter – “My Flower”

Today Dotter, or Johanna Jansson which is her real name, is releasing her debut single “My Flower”. With the deep forests of Wärmland behind her she delivers a very catchy pop track which is built on a grand Motown-stomp and her clear voice. A great start for Johanna who’s planning on following up with a debut EP later this Autumn.

LO – “Endlessness” EP

Here’s another new and quite interesting female voice. It’s about Lovisa Olsson, or in short LO, who has a kind of unique tone in her voice that I love. And she knows how to use it too, like in the electro-sounding “Love of Mine” here below, or the grand, emotional “Missing Wings” which you can also listen to. Both songs come from her excellent debut EP “Endlessness”, which was released in Spring.

Cajsa Siik – “Higher”

Here’s Cajsa Siik with the second appetizer before the release of her next album. It’s called “Higher” and is a very beautiful pop creation with a bit minimalistic arrangement, muffled guitars and smooth melodies.

Beatrice Eli – “Moment of Clarity”

After the fantastic single “Girls” in Spring I’ve been looking forward to hearing more songs from Beatrice Eli. Luckily she has released her next song, “Moment of Clarity”. This is also a piece of catchy pop with attitude, where an energy-pumping verse blossoms in a eighties-sounding chorus. It’s the second single from the debut album “Die Another Day”, to be released on the 22nd of October.

Little Children

Cajsa Siik – “Relentless Delight”

Cajsa Siik is on her way with her second album which is called “Contra”. The single “Relentless Delight” is the first taste, a single that promises a lot for the album.

Little Children – “Impala” – video

Here’s another song from Little Children, “Impala”, expressed through this brilliant music video signed Ted Malmros. The song is taken from the single “By Your Side” and will also be a part of the album “Walk Within”, to be released in the Autumn.

Marigold – “Last Days of Disco”

Marigold describe their latest song, “Last Days of Disco”, as “a sarchastic but loving punch in the face of the modern house scene, a kind of antithesis to the overcompressed samplings”. And just like the song title suggests, this is a disco, classic disco with a touch of indie pop.

AstroMike Gordon – “Ministry Song”

Cristoffer Csanady and his AstroMike Gordon continue to fascinate me with the new single “Ministry Song”. The debut album is out on the 11th of June!

Jonas Schwartz – “Music For You”

Jonas Schwartz is also on his way with his second album, and have also presented the first single from the album. The song is called “Music For You”, a song that takes him in a quite a different musical direction than the first guitar based album “Six”. Exciting.

New singles from Fou de Toi, Cajsa Siik, Skuggväsen and I Don’t Speak French

Fou De Toi

Fou De Toi

It’s hard to keep up with an ever increasing stream of new Swedish music to my inbox. I’m trying to find ways to be more efficient, and one way is to present releases in a post like this, as a collection of releases, so I thought that I should try it out and see how it works. I hope you like it. Well, here’s a collection of new singles, and it came out with a pop theme as well.

Fou De Toi – “Fall Out”

The pop chorus masters Fou De Toi was contacted in the beginning of this year by the producer Ronald Blood (Shout Out Louds, Mando Diao et. al.). Apparently he had seen them live and liked what he heard. They had a meeting, decided to collaborate and then during a weekend in April they reunited in Ronald’s studio to work with some Fou De Toi songs. This song, “Fall Out” is a first result of this session, and if I read between the lines you’ll probably get to hear more songs soon.

Cajsa Siik – “The Fix”

“The Fix” is Cajsa Siik’s first single since the album debut “Plastic House” last year. It’s also the first peek at her upcoming album, an album which currently goes under the project name “Contra”. “The Fix is a conversation I had once with myself about escapism as a way of freedom”, Cajsa writes about the song.

Skuggväsen – “Kärleksdöden”

Behind this melodramatic song title “Kärleksdöden” (“The death of love”) we find a band that call themselves Skuggväsen. Well, I don’t really know if it’s a band as the info is quite scarce. It’s a synth pop song in Swedish and besides the electronic background and the nice synth lines there’s also a vibe of classic Swedish pop.

I Don’t Speak French – “Let It Go”

Recently I wrote about I Don’t Speak French’s debut single “We Are the People“. This week they released the follow-up “Let It Go” where they continue to explore their a bit unique indie sound with falsetto vocals, smooth bass lines and a bit restrained but groovy arrangement. I like the feeling of unpredictability in their songs, of where the song is going next.

Cajsa Siik – “Dali”

Cajsa Siik

Yesterday Cajsa Siik released the song “Dali”, the second single from the upcoming album “Plastic House”, a fascinating song which give a hint of the span of what’s coming later. Clever, simple, driven arrangement to a beautiful melody and a nice expression from Cajsa. Somewhat surprising after the first single “Was I Supposed To”, which is a great pop song, but still within some sort of standard pop template. This was really good and even more exciting.

Cajsa Siik – “Was I Supposed to”

Here’s a lovely, dreamy pop song with beautiful melodic sadness from Cajsa Siik, who released this debut single in the beginning of the month. The song is taken from her upcoming debut album “Plastic House”.
