ObliqObliq, which we wrote about a little more than a year ago, have made a series of live studio recordings, from both earlier songs as well as new ones. They filmed the sessions and plan to release a video every month.

Here are “We Come From the Stars”, featuring Annelie, to listen to and download. And below, the latest video, “The Loneliest Figure”. Go to Obliq’s Youtube channel to follow them.

The Loneliest Figure:

Middlesex

MiddlesexBallistic, Ebbot and Mollgan together with the singer Cecilia Dumbuya form the hip hop group Middlesex. This summer they released the singel “Integritet” (“Integrity”) where they present a soulful hip hop and where Cecilia’s soft voice sits nice in the hooky choruses. There’s a good variation from the straight beats in “Integritet” to the backbeat in “Mistah Mistah” to “Det är vackrast när det skymmer”, which kan described as a beautiful hip hop ballad.

The song “Integritet” is a comment from Middlesex on the debate around personal integrity which started last year in Sweden with the FRA law. Mistah Mistah is also critical about society but the band states that they have no direct ambition to be political, but that they have strong opinions and that they can just as well write about love, if that comes to mind.

Here below is the video to “Integritet”, and “Mistah Mistah” to listen to and download. As a bonus they also give us the track “Fotografier” where they are joined by Peter and Annelie.

Visit Middlesex and listen more on their site and on Myspace.

Peter Dahlin

I think that we’ll be hearing about Peter Dahlin a lot more in the future. He presents a pleasant indie pop with strong melodies and on top of this his bright, sensitive voice. When I listen to his earlier EP “Out In the Snow” (Peter Dahlin and Sleeping Beauty, 2005), it reminds me a lot of the light and happy feeling from the music of Belle & Sebastian.

Underway is a split EP together with Thor Rutgersson, to be released in the first half of 2009. Another interesting project that Peter is involved in, is the live club MaydaySticky. He runs this together with Mattias Dristig since 2004, and it all takes place in Sticky Fingers in Göteborg. Once a month four independent artists performs, and the selection of artists is based on different themes for each club night.

Out In the Snow:

You can listen to two songs here, where “Det snurrar i min skalle” (a cover of a song by Familjen) is a collaboration with Annelie, whom we presented a few weeks ago here on Meadowmusic.

Annelie

AnnelieTough chick in electronic disguise

I would like to introduce Annelie. Her song “Fine” has been played a lot on my speakers these last weeks.

She sings and creates with such soul that I get overjoyed. It’s an artist that completely walks her own path and writes from outside herself and her innerness.

This is what she thinks about her creative process:

“My recordings are made in my home-made studio, and it is only my technical skills and eventually boundaries that controls, in other words I like to try everything!
Except playing piano and percussion, I also play litte bit of drums, bass and guitar.
I record and create beats with samples and my own recorded sounds.
Playing the piano and writing songs, frequently goes hand in hand, but I also write songs separately and make the instrumental settings and arrangements apart from the textwriting.
Well, that was some info about the creative process…”

She has been well noticed werever she has shown up, for example in TV4 morgon, she has been played in P3 and won a guitar by becoming the artist of the week at yoursound.se

This 21 year old doesn’t avoid collaborations that seems really exciting, such as the project “Conrad” which you can listen to at Allears. (Allears.se is announced  to be shutdown this week)

Annelie continues:

“Regarding collaboration partners I have links and information about them on my homepage (myspace-adresses and so on) – feel free to check them out!!
I’ve had a collaboration that’s now on hold but anyway, it’s an electronica project under the name “Conrad”. I’m also part of a remix project with a producer/dj who has made
2 new versions of 2 of my songs. We call ourselves “Treatment”.

Believe my words, this lady we’ll be hearing a lot from in the future. Driven with a huge talent according to me. Annelie finishes off with:

“I’ve got a band to play with, and we have gigs but more gigs are wanted!!”
