December 19, 2011 at 6:54 pm

Snowman Bokeh (Explored) 9,500 visits to this photo. Thank you.Every year I present some new Christmas songs in a post, and this year’s no exception. If you’d like to check out the songs from earlier years you can check them out here: 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

First up is ad dios. They have produced Christmas songs every year since a few years back, and now finally they have made a collection of these, together with new ones, on the album “Season of Tranquillity”. Here’s the opening track:
In the Bleak Midwinter

I wrote about Slottet and their new EP “Servants” a couple of weeks ago. Here’s their Christmas contribution:
A Cold Christmas

The Higher Elevations released their Christmas song in 2006, but since I haven’t presented it before, I thought it would fit perfectly in today’s post:
All These Winter Nights

Acid House Kings with their new Christmas single:
(I’m In) A Chorus Line

Finally a contribution from Skånske Arne & Jonny Spöge who with “Kanske tomten har Facebook” (“Maybe Santa has Facebook”) finish a productive year with this follow-up to their debut singel “Gula lådan“:
Kanske tomten har Facebook

Edit 20/12 2011 – added the new Christmas single from Acid House Kings

Christmas special – “Let Me In For Christmas”

December 20, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Christmas musicIt’s time to spread som Christmas ambience here on  Meadowmusic. We wish you all a most pleasant Christmas.

If you’d like to explore earlier Christmas gifts here on Meadowmusic, you can find the songs from 2009 here and the ones from 2008 here.

First up is a wonderful collaboration between Pär Edwardson (composer and the performer of the song), Johan Strömberg (composer) and Tobbe Möller (lyrics):
Let Me In For Christmas

Next it’s time for a Christmas boogie with BFM. Armed with their recent debut album they have followed this up with a Christmas Single:
Rock Around The Xmas Tree

Art Acoustic, which we presented during Autumn, invites us to celebrate Christmas in the woods:
X-Mas In the Woods

Finally we slow it down a little and go for some Christmas ambience with ad dios. The band (which recently released the album Avalon Revisited) has a tradition of interpreting an old English Christmas carol every year, and this year they have also crossed the channel and invites us to some French Christmas ambience:
Il est né le Divin Enfant

Merry Christmas!

ad dios – A Journey through Middle Earth

June 10, 2009 at 4:21 am

ad diosAlready in autumn, when I wrote about the electronica/ambient-duo ad dios, I could present a track from their upcoming album “A Journey through Middle Earth”. Now the album is here, and the journey is complete.

That they would create an album set in Tolkien’s landscapes doesn’t come as a complete surprise; the inspiration from celtic myths and ancient landscapes is there both in the stories from Middle Earth and in the works from ad dios. I do find, though, a little shift in style in this album compared to the others; this is much more focused on melodies than the ambient style. Like if the melodies carries some part of the story and not only describe the places.

Many of us have a special relation to this world of fantasy, and other composers have before created music with this theme. Here you can listen to a couple of tracks from ad dios’ version of Middle Earth.

On ad dios’ site you can find out more and listen to the album.

ad dios

October 13, 2008 at 12:00 pm

ad diosI have listened to ad dios for more than ten years now, ever since I received the fantastic album “Ancient Landscapes”. I have used their music as some kind of resort now and then, away from a more stressful real landscape and into a musical bubble of peace and harmony.

ad dios is inspired by ancient cultures, preferably the celtic one, to create their atmospheric, melodic music. And sure, I can sense this inspiration, but a stronger feeling for me is the timelessness of it all that connects my inner peace with things that have always been.

ad dios is a duo from Lund with five albums in their discography. Four of them released by Theta Music. Their latest album is called “The Endless Knot” and you can listen to two tracks from the album below. Right now they are producing their upcoming album, with the work title “A Journey Through Middle Earth”, a musical journey inspired by “The Lord of the Rings”.

But behold, you Tolkien-fan, the ring is in safe hands. I can proudly present a track here from the new album, “Middle Earth”, so that you can get a taste for what the new album will sound like.

Lean back, relax, and enjoy:
