Dotter – “Dive” – videopremiär

May 8, 2015 at 1:16 pm

Dotter

Today I have the honour to host the premiere of Dotter’s music video to her new single “Dive”. Her debut single, “My Flower”, released in the Autumn, became one of my pop favourites from last year, and the new song is just as good. After a Gotye-inspired beginning and a verse tinged by 60s pop, she explodes in a grand chorus, which is both catchy and dramatic. She writes about the song:

”Dive is about waking up from the everyday life with the courage to take a further step, the courage to take risks to fulfill yourself and act out on your dreams. You have only one life and it’s up to you how you should live it.”

The Moniker – “Life Is Life”

May 5, 2015 at 5:35 pm

The Moniker

Time to head over to The Moniker’s album workshop again, which I told you about a couple of weeks ago. “Life Is Life” is the next track, a wonderfully dramatic song with even stronger retro vibes, where it feels like Paul Anka, from the end of the fifties, is sitting on his shoulder.

Regn – “Flykt”

May 5, 2015 at 2:36 pm

Regn

The trio Regn, with two members from the indie band Shotgun Crackers, recently released their first track, “Flykt”, with a sweet, ambient and synthpop tinged electronica. I caught Niklas in the band and asked him a few questions:

Who are Regn?

 – Me, Fred and Gia are friends since before and last year we chose to start the music project Regn.

– How did you come up with the band name?

– Gia suggested the name after she had watched a Sigur Ros documentary, where she got inspired by how beautiful Icelandic sounds.

What are your plans for the near future?

– We have recently released our first single Flykt and we are working with recording an EP, which we will release in summer.

– Will we see you on stage as well?

– Of course we will play live. We are looking forward to all open trucks and free soda in the dressing room.

– Thanks Niklas, I’m looking forward to hearing more songs soon.

Eddie Wheeler – “Finns det hopp” – video

May 4, 2015 at 7:46 pm

Eddie Wheeler

Eddie Wheeler wrote the song “Finns det hopp” (“Is there hope”) when he got tired of all the people that were witch hunting beggars and other people that have a hard time in our society. It’s a cry for humanity and empathy, a wonderful naked song production where Eddie’s pleading vocals makes its way through pulsating percussion and dripping synth melodies which sound like tears raining on the concrete. A song that in a way answers its own question by existing.

I take the opportunity also to add another song from Eddie, “Den mask du bär”, released in the Autumn, and one of the strongest songs he has released this far, together with today’s headliner.

Pär Edwardson – “On My Pillow”

May 4, 2015 at 5:04 pm

Pär Edwardson

Pär Edwardson is tempting us before the release of the new album “PearShaped” with the single “On My Pillow”. And it’s about time, I’ve been waiting for a new album since I wrote about his debut album ”Bodybuilding – but with centimetre” in 2008. The song is a power pop gem with Beatlesque colours, his characteristic raw guitars and an immediate melody stickiness. Pär has written the music while the lyrics has been penned by the artist and author Tobbe Möller. “PearShaped” will be released in Summer.
