The duo Christian Wallin and Lasse “Jison” Johansson started their collaboration already 10 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2014 they started releasing their work. In between we’ve seen Wallin’s blistering guitars in Killer Clan of F.U.N. and Hothead, while Jison has provided the metal band Stonelake with bass grooves .

Their first new recording was released in the Autumn as the album “Guilt” and less than half a year later the follow-up “The Black Sheep of the Family” was launched. This is quite some distance from heavy metal, instead they go back to their roots and serve us a blues-infused roots-rock’n’roll. The straight-on three chord tunes often have a downscaled sound, without sounding retro, it’s a razor sharp production. They play with different rhytms in each song and create a smooth pulse and a laidback vibe, making it easy to just sit back and float along with the music. It’s probably perfect for a relaxing car ride. It’s music which is drenched with classical riffs and phrases where they add their own spices in a restrained way and still make it taste unique and fresh. We’ve heard Sven-Holger Rosenvinge before in the alternative rock band Mandylon and solo with rock and pop in English. On his new EP “Ballader på svenska”, though, he’s changed language to Swedish and is fetching inspiration from the nordic folk soil. The result is brilliant when he lets these folk-vibing ballads grow into his own style of singer-songwriter-pop with tasteful and interesting arrangements. And he uses his fantastistic voice in the best way in this context as well, with just the right dose of fragility and blackness.

The electronica experimentalist and ambient artist Multiface is releasing his second album “Gangsterism” today. It’s an album for you who like to explore the unknown and follow paths which not necessarily always feel comfortable. Multiface defies the common traits and wraps the music in noise filters and distorted environments, like if he took a fistful of sand and threw it into the tape recorder. Patiently listening I get into the music after a while and notice the contrasts in his special soundscapes. He can put you in a cocoon and let the sound from a noisy world seep through the cover, he can let you out into a desolate landscape with hazy outlines or he can let some industry rockers run you over with a steamroller. It’s quite difficult to place it on a music map. Is it art music, ambient, postrock or all at once? It doesn’t matter of course, since the only thing of importance is how you feel about it. The two siblings Roth, Gustav and Julia, who released the great tune “We Are” in the Autumn, are back with a new single. It’s called “UP2U” and is an electropop track in the same melodic spirit as the the earlier song, but with denser and bigger arrangement.

Niklas Gottfridsson Jeng calls himself LAS as an artist, and recently he released his debut single “Ta över världen”. With this new and fun music video interpretation it all turns into a great mix of humour and seriousness, perfectly coloured by his natural way of delivering the rhymes. It’s a personal style without exaggerations, but with a sweet nuanced flow which breathes life into the words.
