Promise Divine

This is good shit! It doesn’t sound Swedish at all; when I hear these I dudes I think USA and radio friendly punk. A little bit like Sum 41, but absolutely not in a bad way at all. It feels tight and has a really nicely shaped sound, so no shitty rock n’ roll sound as often heard today. It’s like it’s made for an audience outside of Sweden. This makes me think that they may have a chance at a career in the US. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Promise Divine!

Promise Divine was founded in 2005. And since the start they have toured in the US twice. They’ve exchanged some members and also released a full length album, which I didn’t listen to for long before I changed back to their forthcoming EP, which will be released on December 27th on Spotify, Amazon and iTunes. The EP release is digital only.

You can for the time being listen to one of the songs from the EP now on Spotify or at their site. But we’ll let you listen to another song already, “Me, In The Study, With The Revolver”, which is, in my opinion, the best song from the EP. So this is also the world premiere of that song here!
I’ve already put this release on my iPod. To me, Promise Divine is this years best upcoming Swedish band just right behind Royal Republic!

The Resonance – “Introspection”

December 14, 2010 at 10:38 pm

The Resonance is a new name but not a new band, formerly known as Tvivelfront and MeadowMusic wrote about their EP in May, but from another author so this is new to me. And now they’re releasing a whole album including the songs from the EP. The opening track starts off with an awesome sounding guitar and the singer sounds a little like the dude in Depeche Mode. The song is just nice and it has a strong chorus with a solid sounding band.

The first and the second song is both strong but then it tends to even out a bit I’m afraid, but bare in mind that this is their first LP and I think this band has great potential to grow. I’m really looking forward to hear more from these guys indeed.

Pär who wrote about them the last time, described them as an early The Cure but with a little Broder Daniel in it and I think I agree with him there.

Check out The Resonance’ homepage or listen to them on Spotify

Astrolites

Today I have the pleasure to present a new colleague here on Meadowmusic: Staffan Larsson, better known as Stuff, will help us navigate through all great new Swedish music. When Stuff’s not writing on Meadowmusic, you can watch him as a guitar player in the hard rock band Killer Clan of F.U.N. /Pär

It all started with me getting a bunch of artists to browse through and eventually drop a line about them. Most of it were just crap, but then I got to Astrolites and their new LP “Play For Keeps”. The opening track blew me straight away and the music were really grooving. I decided to keep on listening, it feels like they’re right in time. It’s tight and the music just sparks with energy and life and the singer fits just like a glove!

The Album is almost flawless except for one instrumental little piece and I think that the LP could do without it, plus Johnny Cash old classic Ring Of Fire.

Rockabilly, and I get a little touch from Stray Cats. Take a listen and I promise that you just cant stand still for a longer time. As for now, I’m extremely curious about how they sound live, just to see what if they can do just as good as on the LP.

Astrolites can be found on Spotify and their Myspace can be found here!
