Petter Lindhagen and his Tired Tape Machine is underway with his third album, “Not Here”. “Sisyphus” is the first taste of the record, a song you can listen to below in two versions.
Frederick from the electronica duo Sameblod is working on a solo project also, a project he calls Pizzaboys. “day” is his first creation, an instrumental tune; indie pop with vibes of new wave from the eighties.
Felix Wickman will release his third album, “I recommend swimming”, on the 15th of May. The single “Grown Ups/Ballerina” is a fine presentation to this album’s special sound; Felix’ fragile voice in a live atmosphere with a shimmering patina swept over the entire production. A great song and an album that’s just as great.
Solen, hailing from Gävle, released the single “Förlorare” (“Losers”) a week ago. It’s pop with a wonderful raw sound and my thoughts go also to Hurula, an artist they will be the opening act to in Stockholm April 25th and in Göteborg May 9th.
The trio Pelle Ljungberg, Teddy Skoglund and Lars Jönsson form the core of the folk-psychadelia band The Red & Hidden Language. Last year they released their debut album with songs that bring artists like Nick Drake, Devendra Banhart och CSN&Y to mind. Here are two songs:
Here are a couple of songs from a band/project called Sequoia. Great songs with nice falsetto vocals, rather varying but with a foundation in folk-inspired pop. As they haven’t released anything yet on Spotify and similar services, you can go to their Soundcloud page to hear more songs.
The duo Sveket are releasing a new single next week, “Hollywoodslut” (“Hollywood endings”), with a surprising electro pop arrangement, quite a distance from the earlier singles with a more traditional sound. The melodramatic retro-schlager vibe in the vocals and the melodies is still there, though, which makes an interesting combination. The single is also first taste of the upcoming debut album “Une vie à vivre”.
The trio Wilderness follows up on their debut single from last year with the new song “Hold On”. Great dreamy electro pop where they get help from Sabina Wärme this time too. The single is accompanied by a beautiful music video which you can watch here below.
Dreamlake, hailing from Stockholm, is a duoformed by Isabella Swärdstam och Niklas Willar Lidholm. In the Autumn they released their debut EP with five tracks, and a couple of weeks ago the video to “In The Lights” from the EP. They call their music dream pop, which is a suitable description to these beautiful, grand-sounding and soft pop songs. Here are a couple of songs from the EP, the video I mentioned above and also a new disco-influenced remix signed Ludvig Thunberg.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Leppen’s single “Sova“. Today he shows us another song from the upcoming EP “Iställetförattprata” (April 28th), namely the title track. There’s a video to the last single “Sova” too, which I missed the last time..
A couple of days ago the hard rock band The Gloria Story released the second single from last year’s album “Born to Lose“. They’ve chosen to present the song in this well-cut tour video:
I’m glad that The Shy Lips from Göteborg is back here in the blog with the new single “She Was Born In Bahia”. I find it difficult to defend myself against this, just like with songs I wrote about last year. “Indie rock at it’s best” it says in the promo mail, and I’m inclined to agree with that.
Here’s a premiere of a new single. We get a first glimpse of Songs of Sam’s new song “Julia”, which will be released officially on Sunday. Behind Songs of Sam we find Samuel Heiligers, earlier violin player in the indie band Monde Yeux. He’s kept this project going since his days in high school, but have so far only showed it in private circumstances. He made an exception, though, for the the independent movie “You Never Know” by Vi-Dan Tran, where you can hear his music.

Since a few days I’m also writing reviews about music videos on Beatclash.com, a relatively new site focusing on music videos. I received a request a little while ago that the content here on Meadowmusic could complement their content in a good way. Usually I’m quite selective with list and review sites, as many are focusing too much on Top 40 (average music for average people) and miss all pearls for songs and music videos out on the net.
Beatclash feels great in this aspect, though, with a wide selection of music and possibilities to be able to discover new music and great music videos. Since I receive a lot of videos that deserve more attention, I said yes and have just started my video column there.
