Albin Eidhagen – “White Frozen Fingers”

July 9, 2015 at 3:22 pm

Albin Eidhagen

In May Albin Eidhagen took his guitar, an organ and some recording equipment and found a spot at Pite River in the north of Sweden. Together with Rebecca Lundholm they recorded three songs beside the northern giant and are now presenting them one by one as music videos. The atmosphere, the light, the colours in harmony with the interaction and immersion from Albin and Rebecca make this magical. Even though it’s May the northern chill still lingers in the air, the light is sparse, as if the landscape is charging for the long summer days to come, but the two artists are glowing of warmth. Here are the two first songs from the session.

Hagaliden – “Inget är vårt” – album

Hagaliden

The band Hagaliden’s new album “Inget är vårt” certainly deserves a place in the sun this summer. With beautiful pop melodies dressed in a sound that breathes of the Swedish seventies, and lyrics that deliver poetic face slaps to the political generation that went inside and closed the door, the band is glowing on this record. Here are a few songs from the album.

Martin Berglund & Stödorkestern – “Allting kommer att ordna sig”

Martin Berglund och Stödorkestern

The band Martin Berglund & Stödorkestern, hailing from Kalmar, released this catchy rock tune in June. It’s an uplifting song with black humour from a band who nurtures the tradition from Swedish rock artists like Ulf Lundell, Eldkvarn and Lars Winnerbäck in the best way. They released the debut album “Din ungdom ska aldrig dö” in 2013 and last year the EP “Jag sköt konungen på bänken i väntan på dig”.

Magic Potion

In February I presented the first track from the trio Magic Potion, and they announced an EP later in Spring. The EP, “Melt”, was released last month and served four tracks with incredibly charming reel-to-reel-tape-produced garage pop songs. Here are two of them.

Rööd – “Segersånger” EP

July 7, 2015 at 2:34 pm

Rööd

While Humfree Bug Art are working on their next album, several of the members are taking the opportunity to dive into side projects. Fredrik Forell and Sebastian Svensson Nylin express their newly won love for samplers in their electronica project Rööd, and in June they released the second EP “Segersånger”. Here they experiment with ambient soundscapes which feel playfully distorted in various ways, often with a vaudeville or cirkus vibe. Maybe is this what happens if you forget your collection of arpeggios in the sizzling, hot summer sun?
