I wrote about Humfree Bug Art and their single “With Nights and Lights” during Spring. In May they also released the 6 track strong EP “Collema”, an EP where their grand style of indie pop is allowed to blossom. Listen here in “Flowers” and the video to “Back at the Start”.

We wrote about Henke Wermelin a couple of years ago. Then his backing band was The Delinquencies and we listened to a couple of demo tracks, which were promising but felt somewhat tentative when it comes to the recording quality. Now his new band is called Nattskiftet and the new album  “The New Black Is Blue” is anything but tentative. Here he’s found his own formula for mixing folk inspired indie and seventies pop, with an emphasis on the latter where I hear Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac, Ten cc and others.

The album is described as introspective and dark, but the music feels most of the time uplifting and sparkling with life, which adds a dose of gallows humour to some lines. Theres a pleasant balance between the calm and the energetic, and I find gems among both the uptempo tracks as well as among the softer ones. Here are a few of them:

Here’s a new, fresh single, which is also the title track of Rasmus Faber’s upcoming album “Indian Summer”. On vocals you can hear Frida Sundemo, who’s also working on a new solo album.

No Coda, hailing from Sandviken, released this shoegaze/psychadelia-vibing song a little while ago. From what I understand it’s the band Daymare that has switched to a new name, which seems plausible listening to their earlier songs. A debut album has been recorded and will be released within short.

Fun Control describe themselves as a bunch of old post punk/synth musicians who now have found their way back to their roots after many years of discovering other genres. In Spring they released a couple of songs to explore this dark landscape they have returned to, a landscape created in the eighties which they gently sweeps over with echoing guitars and synth pads, enveloping us in a dreamy melancholy.
