sink \ sink is a project started by the musician Gareth Schott, hailing from New Zeeland. Planning the new album “a lone cloudburst” he asked Ylva Krantz, hailing from Stockholm, to become a part of the project, which resulted in Ylva supplying lyrics and vocals to the music, sometimes in English and sometimes in Swedish.

The music balances on the border between the pure ambient music and melodic songs. It’s calm and beautiful, dreamy, at times a bit spooky or suggestive where Ylva’s voice comes sweeping in  like a light breeze in an enchanted forest, creating movement. It’s an interesting and to a large part organic sound, which takes hold of me more and more each time I listen, like if I get stuck in cobweb.

Now it’s about classic soulfunk from Andy Pfeiler in the single and video “Chances On the Dancefloor”, released this Summer, and which also includes Brazilian comeliness in the shape of Simone Moreno. The song is a first taste of Andy’s upcoming album, which will be launched in the beginning of 2014.

Here’s a piece of catchy, dance friendly electro pop from songwriter and singer Malin Bylund. She’s from Stockholm but moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to study vocals, where she now lives. This is her first official single, if I may call it that, but you can hear several more songs on her Soundcloud page.

I wrote about Echodeck already in 2008, and it took them some years before they felt satisfied enough with the material to release an album. In Spring “Flying Machine” was finally released, a beautiful instrumental creation where man meets machine, monotony meets dreams, hammer blows meet tender melodies, into a whole which still feels warm and hopeful. A day like this when the storm is sweeping in over the south of Sweden it fits quite well to listen to We Are the Storm and their album “Wastelands”, where it feels like they manage to accompany the storm well when they pick up their pace in their most rough, intense and grand indie rock. An excellent album which didn’t fail my expectations after the strong singles they released earlier this year.
