Here are Seaweed Meadows, hailing from Göteborg, with their second single, “Andra Långgatan”, a piece of romantic, nostalgic and grand-sounding pop, celebrating the streets of their home town. In Spring they released the song “Ruins“, which I wrote about then, and both of these songs are taken from the upcoming album “Echoes of an Avalanche”.

The hip hop duo DOM!, Dafne Jansson and Maria Blonde Andersson, are back with a new single, “Över Er”, the first one since last year’s “Tiden rinner iväg“, this time with music from the New Jersey producer Dev Beatz. They write:

“Över er” is a song with attitude with a simple message: we are here to take a place in the male dominated hip hop and “we’ll never get down again”.

They also say that the song is a taste from their new EP which is planned to be released in the end of this year.

This morning I’ve been listening to Robert Dahlqvist’s new album “Solo”. It was launched in the beginning of October and is what it says: his solo debut, after years in Hellacopters and then Dundertåget. The start of the album “Jag Va Kött och Blod” is probably the strongest album start I’ve listened to in a long time and I think it’s hard to come any closer to someone with recorded music than what he does here. The sound feels retro-seventish, not in an artificial way; it’s very much here and now. With this he goes on with the likewise naked “Det Tog En Lång Tid“, which I’ve presented before, and then alternates between pure rock’n’roll tunes and softer, closer tunes on a quite varied album. He doesn’t complicate things; the gentle love for melodies, guitar sounds and and an open heart goes a long way, a very long way. I wouldn’t mind hearing more of this. And here’s Canary Islands, hailing from Malmö, who today try something new, which they a bit jokingly call 3P, which means that they are presenting three songs in a single track, as if it was one single song you play through. Kind of a protest against the increasing fragmentation of music. They say that they will release one of these three times a year and they are already working on the next 3P-track. And why not? It’s not exactly radio friendly , but that doesn’t matter to us, does it? Here it is with melodic, nicely rough indie where they daringly have chosen to start with the only instrumental song of the  three.

And now we’re changing the scene and the tempo completely from the last post, and we sit down looking out over a calm landscape where the grey skies is barely visible through the light mist and it’s getting dark soon. It’s Old Lost John, hailing from Malmö, who sets up this melancholic peaceful scene with his quiet vocals, guitar and earthy close folk-Americana on his EP “Caving In”. Here are two songs.
