Akiine has released a new song as a follow-up to the last single “Paranormal Activity”. It’s called “Brixton”, a song that sounds more of dark electropop vibes than being jazzy this time, but she’s still in her very own whispering dream dimension.
Today Sophia Somajo is giving us a first taste of her new EP “Freudian Slip Vol 1”, which will be released in February next year. On her song “The Last Summer” she’s being nostalgic together with Seinabo Sey in a beautiful 80’s-vibing electropop production, signed Per Eklund.
I thought I’d beat the drum for an album released in June today, i.e. Emerald Park’s latest creation “GO!GO!GO!”. Like they announced beforehand it is an album where they made plenty of more space for electronica. The result feels like a vitamin injection to the band’s music, a melting pot of influences where retro sounding analogue synths coexist with disted indie guitars, carrying everlasting, high class pop melodies. It is probably the most varied album I’ve heard from the band, and the influence from two different great producers, Ola Frick of Moonbabies and Carl Granberg, can be sensed in the songs. It’s one of the best pop albums I’ve heard this year, and the only problem I have with it is that it’s way too short.
SoLBLoMMa took the 90’s hit “Club Bizarre” and updated it for the dance floors of today. At the same time she’s turned the song into her own and filled it with an undertone of longing and beautiful sadness.
Jonas Schwartz writes that he’s in a writing and recording phase right now. This new song, “Nobody”, is complementing the music he released last year on the excellent electronica driven pop album “Xpedition”, but he says it doesn’t fit with the new music he’s working on. So, he released it as a single, which we are grateful for of course.
