Many artists trim and polish their sound to the second album with more advanced productions. Not Dalaplan, though, on their follow-up album “Plikt och elände”. They have roughed it up a bit instead and have achieved something that is now closer to a spontaneous live energy in the eleven songs. The songs and the album are overall more dynamic also which makes the album feel more like a whole than the debut. It’s still about a wonderful energetic garage rock, but darker, both in the harmonies and in the lyrics, which ultimately feels rather liberating. It’s rock’n’roll, right? Also, Dalaplan wouldn’t be Dalaplan without the melodies, the singalong phrases and the short choruses which stick in your head immediately. And sure, they are indeed there, listen for yourself:
I missed presenting Dalaplan’s single “Ta mig när jag faller” when it was released a couple of months ago. So I’m doing it now instead. Great rock from them, and maybe their best one so far.
Fantastic, energic rockers Dalaplan, hailing from Malmö, have made a new video to the earlier single “Trillar i”, which is perfect on a Friday night I think. New single, October 10th, “Ta mig när jag faller”.
If someone can take over the heritage of Wilmer X‘ “malmöitic” rock veins today, it’s probably Dalaplan. And then I’m thinking about the Wilmer X that during the eighties toured like crazy and shouted “Kör dig död” to the audience while the sweat poured all over the scene.
There’s not as much blues in Dalaplan’s music, but the more of punk, garage and energy, more than enough for everyone. The five member band Dalaplan was formed from the remnants of Pachanga, which I have written about before. In 2010 they released their debut album and last year the EP “Feber” (“Fever”), and here below you can listen to two of the songs from the EP.
