The Gothenburg duo Pale Honey, Tuva Lodmark and Nelly Daltrey, are releasing the single “Youth” on the 2nd of March. Armed with only drums, electric guitars and Tuva’s cool vocals they have created a track that deserves it’s name; a calm verse, with a lo-fi synth figure as the only company to the vocals, explodes in garage rock riffs, but still maintaining the same laidback attitude. Their debut album “Youth” will be released in the 4th of May.

The psychadelia band Holy, whom I wrote about in the Autumn, have just released the single “Demon’s Hand”, lead single from their debut album “Stabs” (release March 11th). While you’re waiting for the full length debut you can also listen to their EP “Silver of Your Heart” from December. You’ll find the title track below.

Holy is a project started by Hannes Ferm, hailing from Umeå. A few days ago he showed the title track “Golden Fog” from the upcoming debut EP. It’s two minutes of wonderful garage-psychadelia with reverb and sharp guitars which sound like they were fetched directly from the 60’s originals. The debut EP will be released on the 10th of December.

Many artists trim and polish their sound to the second album with more advanced productions. Not Dalaplan, though, on their follow-up album “Plikt och elände”. They have roughed it up a bit instead and have achieved something that is now closer to a spontaneous live energy in the eleven songs. The songs and the album are overall more dynamic also which makes the album feel more like a whole than the debut. It’s still about a wonderful energetic garage rock, but darker, both in the harmonies and in the lyrics, which ultimately feels rather liberating. It’s rock’n’roll, right? Also, Dalaplan wouldn’t be Dalaplan without the melodies, the singalong phrases and the short choruses which stick in your head immediately. And sure, they are indeed there, listen for yourself:

The Malmö trio AHRM released their debut album at the start of this Autumn. They write that they’ve been inspired by 80’s and 90’s hardcore, post punk and post hardcore with a clear reference to the Washington DC sound that they all grew up with. The songs are ine general punkishly short, like live explosions of energy, it’s intense, dark, and they sound like no one else I’ve heard in the neighbourhood.
